Author D Stalter - Post Apocalyptic Books
D. Stalter led a nomadic life in her early years. Daughter of a pipe fitter, her father's jobs moved the family wherever he had work. From dams in South Dakota and Arizona to nuclear power plants in Illinois to taconite mines in northern Minnesota.
She embraced that lifestyle growing up. When she struck out on her own, she dreamed of following her father in his profession, but women still hadn't broken that barrier (yet).
When she heard that the U.S. Army was testing a new program where they would train men and women together to see if women could do the same program that the men did. Dorene said, "Sign me up now!"
She went on to prove that women could excel, finishing in the top ten of her Company. She never did become a pipe fitter, but she did pursue her dreams of writing. These are her stories.
